Job Responsibilities

As a business development and sales professional, you’ll need to:

  1. Research and identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends,
    clients, partnerships, products and services – or new ways of reaching existing markets
  2. Seeking out appropriate contact in an organization
  3. Generate leads and cold call prospective clients
  4. Help to plan sales campaigns and create a sales pipeline
  5. Following sales process
  6. Prepare technical and commercial proposals
  7. Prepare and deliver presentations
  8. Use CRM to maintain the sales cycle
  9. Negotiate pricing with clients and suppliers in some cases
  10. Increase sales and carry out sales forecasts, analysis, MIS and present your findings to senior management/the board of directors
  11. Develop the business sales and marketing strategy
  12. Regularly meet and follow up with existing, new and prospective clients
  13. Foster and develop relationships with clients
  14. Understand the needs of your clients and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these
  15. Work strategically – carrying out necessary planning and strategies to implement operational
    changes.
  16. Have a good understanding of the businesses’ products or services and be able to advise
    others about them.
  17. Train members of your team, arranging external training where appropriate.
  18. Discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department.
  19. Liaise with the finance team, warehousing and logistics departments as appropriate.
  20. Prepare and attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate.
  21. Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world.
  22. Focus on target-based sales revenue.

Qualifications

Graduation or Post Graduation in Business Management/Business Studies/International Relations/Sales & Marketing

Skills you'll need to have:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in product sales/marketing
  • Tenacity and drive to seek new business and meet or exceed targets
  • An excellent telephone manner for making initial contact and for ongoing communication with new and existing clients and business associates
  • Interpersonal skills for building and developing relationships with clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – needed for communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, as well as presentation skills
  • Hands-on experience on advanced excel, word and advanced power point
  • Team working skills and a collaborative approach to work
  • Decision-making skills
  • Proficient in technical and commercial proposal making
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize workload
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • The ability to motivate yourself and set your own goals
  • Negotiating skills
  • The ability to think strategically
  • The ability to analyze sales figures and write reports
  • A flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Initiative and the confidence to start things from scratch
  • The ability to speak a foreign language is an asset if you’re dealing with overseas clients.
